Kent County Arts and Entertainment Events - June 2015

Kent County has been recognized by the Maryland State Arts Council as one of the significant arts communities in the state. With this in mind, we have designed the Arts & Entertainment site to provide you with information on what the county has to offer in relation to its arts, entertainment, and cultural heritage. Hopefully, this will help you plan a fun-filled stay, enabling you to take full advantage of places to go and people to see.   • The National Music Festival at Washington College brings together world-class mentors and gifted apprentice musicians on the cusp of their professional careers. All apprentices receive full scholarships. For two weeks each June, these musicians live and work together, presenting over 35 concerts — ranging from solo recitals to large symphony orchestra performances with chorus — and 200 free open rehearsals for music lovers from all over the world.

  • Steve Abshire on 6 string guitar and Steve Herberman on 7-string guitar celebrate the release of their new CD “Between Friends” (the 2nd on the Mainstay Music label) a live concert recording recorded last summer in Annapolis. They will play some of the selections from the CD, songs from the Great American Songbook and some well-known Brazilian standards. They will be joined by 16-year-old jazz guitar phenom Jan Knutson.
