PUBLIC HEARING - June 21, 2011

HISTORIC SITE DESIGNATION - Asbury United Methodis

A public hearing was held today at 6:51 p.m. in the County Commissioners’ Hearing Room, County Government Center, 400 High Street, Chestertown, MD, for the purpose of discussing the application made by Asbury United Methodist Church to voluntarily designate property located at 8760 Georgetown Road, Chestertown, Maryland 21620 as a Historic Site and to list the site in the Kent County Register of Historic Places.

County Commissioners, Ronald Fithian, William Pickrum, and Alexander Rasin were in attendance as well as Susanne Hayman, County Administrator, Gail Owings, Director of Planning, Zoning & Housing, and Carla Gerber, Community Planner.

Asbury United Methodist Church Trustees and officials also attended to show their support.

Commissioner Fithian read the Notice of Public Hearing into the record.

The Historic Preservation Commission and Planning Commission both voted to recommend designation of Asbury United Methodist Church as a historic site.

There were no comments or questions received from the audience.

On motion by Commissioner Rasin and seconded by Commissioner Pickrum, the Commissioners unanimously approved designating Asbury United Methodist Church as a Historic Site.
