The Live Playwrights' Society for Play Writers, Readers, Observers & Critics aims to foster a community of playwrights, actors and critics. This group meets the first Monday of every month at 7:30pm and is open to all ages. (Free!) New plays are read and critiqued each month!

Linda works in watercolor as well as oils and pastel. This show will be primarily watercolor using different papers, such as YUPO paper and watercolor canvas. They will diverge from realism to semiabstract.
Meander the red-brick, tree-lined sidewalks of Historic Chestertown, while enjoying extended shop hours and arts and entertainment throughout Downtown. Luminary bags are being decorated by local school children. Kristen Owen will need assistance in placing and collecting bags around town on Friday.
Santa will stroll around town and visit stores. Kent School students will be caroling. For a list of activities, please check this calendar for specific listings.
A Chester River Holiday

No French hens, but there is a French horn in the brass sextet that will back the Chester River Chorale as it sings in the winter holidays on Friday evening December 5 and Saturday afternoon December 6 at the Presbyterian Church of Chestertown. An organ and percussion ensemble and guest artists Cantor Gary Schiff and the Chester River Youth Choir will join the program. Suggested donation is $15 with children free. Colonial Chestertown's Holiday House Tour

On this self-paced tour, docents will guide you through several of Chestertown's most historic and significant buildings decorated in their holiday best. The Creative Life with Connie Godwin & Margie Elsberg

Margie Elsberg and Connie Godwin both started their careers in journalism right out of college as “copy boys" then worked as newspaper reporters in Washington, D.C. Connie continued her newspaper career, becoming an editor in Anchorage, Alaska, later returning to Washington for a 20-year stint as Press Secretary to Alaska’s late senior Senator Ted Stevens. Margie remained in Washington, becoming a newspaper City Editor and later a TV news producer and assignment manager. In the past decade they have team-taught a WC-ALL course called “How the News is Made” which evolved over six classes from newspapers, once only black-and-white print, to digital on screens as small as iPads and cell-phones. Margie now works as a media consultant and volunteers in local programs. Connie also volunteers locally. Members: $20; Non-members: $25

Location: KidSPOT at RiverArts Gallery, 315 High Street, Suite 106, Chestertown
Open to all levels of painters, from beginners to advanced. A demonstration on essentials of working in egg tempera will be provided for all students. In this workshop students will learn aspects of the medium, characteristics of powered pigments, how to make fresh paint, many ways of applying the paint, including glazing and scumbling. Materials will be provided in the cost of the class including a book on painting Egg Tempera. A small list of additional materials students should bring (brushes ect.) will be provided. Free Holiday Band Concert by the Eastern Shore Wind Ensemble

Location: Emmanuel Church, Cross & High Streets, Chestertown
The Eastern Shore Wind Ensemble will present a program of Christmas and Hanukkah music. The band invites the audience to join them for post-concert refreshments. Directed by Dr. Keith Wharton, the ESWE is the all-ages community concert band based in Chestertown. It gives four concerts during its Sept.-May season and welcomes new members at any time, without audition or fee. The next concert will be on March 15, 2015. The band is partially supported by the Kent Co. Arts Council.
