  • The National Music Festival at Washington College brings together world-class mentors and gifted apprentice musicians on the cusp of their professional careers. All apprentices receive full scholarships. For two weeks each June, these musicians live and work together, presenting over 35 concerts — ranging from solo recitals to large symphony orchestra performances with chorus — and 200 free open rehearsals for music lovers from all over the world.

  • Set in Maine at the end of the 19th C, swaggering carnival barker,Billy Bigelow, captivates and marries naive millworker, Julie Jordan. Losing his job just as he finds out he's to become a father, he becomes part of a robbery. Facing jail, he takes his own life,and finds himself "up there". He returns to earth to help save his teen-age lonely daughter by instilling dignity and hope, a testament to the power of love.

  • Join together with area businesses, organizations, and volunteers to teach children how to fish-not just for the sport of it, but for the family values it can instill. This special event includes prizes for casting, biggest fish of the day, biggest fish in a species and biggest fish in each age division. Free lunch and goodie bag to all registered children. Rod and reel give-away to first 75 to pre-register and arrive by 10am the day of event. Bait will be provided. Rain or Shine, $7/child if registered by 4:30pm May 22, $9/child if registered after​. Registration begins May 1.

  • The Chestertown Lions Club welcomes cyclists to this summer's bicycling challenge, the Bay to Bay ride. The tour consists of four routes between 27 and 104 miles in length. The flat loop routes take in scenery of the heartland of the Upper Eastern Shore of Maryland and Delaware. The 27 mile ride goes through historic Downtown Chestertown for those who want a less challenging ride. Registration starts at 6:30am and ride begins at 7am.   • The Wheelmen is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to keeping alive the heritage of American cycling, promoting the restoration and riding of early cycles manufactured prior to 1918, and encouraging cycling as part of modern living. This organization follows bicycle development with such types as the Draissine, Velocipede, Boneshaker, Ordinary (also known as a High Wheeler or Penny Farthing), Tricycle, High Wheel Safety, Hard Tired Safety, Cushion Tire Safety and Pneumatic Safety (including Tandems and Chainless models).
