The Kent County Public Library has a very dedicated Friends of the Library group that hosts a popular used book sale every spring. Thousands of book titles are available. DVDs, puzzles, journals and books on CD are also for sale. The Friends generously use the sales proceeds to benefit the library's collections and programs. Only cash and checks will be accepted.

Roy Book Binder plays guitar and sings on an eclectic mix of blues, country tunes, bluegrass, folk, and popular songs that originated on Tin Pan Alley. He has with a great bluesy voice, a polished fingerpicking style and his vivid, humorous stories about his mentor, the Rev. Gary Davis and other blues masters are just as good as his songs. A parade down Main Street USA, demonstrations of colonial life, historic reenactments, 5K & 10K distance runs, a wild & creative raft race, over 100 arts & crafts vendors, local musicians & food galore are all among the reasons this Memorial Day Weekend event is one of the great traditions on the Eastern Shore. (There is no admission charge for the festival, but some events require tickets).
This foot race is for children ages 2-11 years old. Each age group has their own race from a 75yd dash to a 1 mile run. The race registration fee includes a t-shirt, participant ribbon and kids meal for all pre-registered runners. The cost is $12.00 before May 24th and $18.00 on race day. All proceeds will benefit the H.H. Garnett Elementary School.
