A Public Hearing was held on Tuesday, January 8, 2001, at 9:20 a.m.
in the County Commissioners' Hearing Room, County Government Center,
Chestertown, for the purpose of discussing the application submitted
by York Farm, LLC, for the voluntary creation of an Agricultural Land
Preservation District on their 202.811 acre farm located on 6550 Quaker
Neck Road in the Seventh Election District.
County Commissioners Ronald H. Fithian, Larry B. Beck and W. Michael
Newnam were in attendance as well as Gail Owings, Director of Planning
and Zoning Administration, Carla Martin, Community Planner, and Rick
Bailey, representing York Farm, LLC, applicant.
Notice of public hearing was read into the record by Commissioner
Fithian.
Ms. Martin presented a map identifying York Farm, LLC, property. She
advised that approximately 91.7 % of the soils are classified capability
Class I, II and III. She noted that although this property is not located
adjacent to a conservation easement, it is in the vicinity of a large
easement.
Correspondence was received from Elizabeth H. Morris, Chairman, Planning
Commission, and from Robert W. Clark, Jr., Chairman, Agricultural Preservation
Advisory Board, which advised of both Boards' unanimous vote to recommend
approval of this application.
There was no one in the audience who wished to speak for or against
this application for submission to the Agricultural Land Preservation
Foundation.
A motion was made by Commissioner Beck, seconded by Commissioner Newnam
and made unanimous by Commissioner Fithian to recommend approval of
the application submitted by York Farm LLC, for the voluntary creation
of an Agricultural Land Preservation District to the Agricultural Land
Preservation Foundation.
