KENT COUNTY, MARYLAND

Board of License Commissioners

March 18, 2003

The Honorable Board of License Commissioners met today at the Kent County High School with the following present: Roy W. Crow, Scott D. Livie, and William W. Pickrum, presiding.

Mauritz Stetson, Alcoholic Beverage Inspector, was also in attendance.

VIOLATION
LEWES DAIRY MARKET

The Alcoholic Beverage Inspector notified the Commissioners that a violation of the Criminal Law Article 2B Section 10-114 of the Annotated Code of Maryland occurred as to a minor misrepresenting age to induce sales of an alcoholic beverage. The case was closed by an arrest.

LEGISLATION

Mr. Stetson advised that he has appeared before the General Assembly in Annapolis to testify on proposed legislation for Kent County; specifically, HB 430 which exempts the 60% - 40% food to alcoholic beverage ratio sales regulation as it relates winetasting. He also reported of his testimony against SB 616 which would allow for the sale of beer and wine in chain stores. Mr. Stetson stated his opinion that alcoholic beverage laws could not be efficiently regulated in large chain stores.

There being no further business to claim their attention, the Board adjourned to meet again on Tuesday, March 25, 2003.
