Responsible for overall management
and administration of the office

Administrative Unit

Provides support to the entire office,
through procurement,
personnel management,
r ecords management

Victim Services

• provides crisis intervention and counseling to crime victims
• coordinates victims/witness services
  with appropriate agencies
• provides support and advocates for victims/witnesses
  during the judicial process  
• assists crime victims in filing for
  criminal injury compensation

Patrol Division

• Maintains 24-hour patrol of Kent County
  in marked and unmarked vehicles
• Enforces traffic laws
• Watches for violations of other laws
• Responds to more than 11,000 requests
  
• Investigates crimes
• K-9 unit – two canine teams
  (one Deputy and one canine)
• drug detection
• tracking
• patrol work, including crowd control

Criminal Investigation Division

• Investigate serious crimes
• Specially trained crime scene investigators
• Evidence/property custodian
• Sex offender registry
• Narcotics Enforcement Team
• Drug enforcement through surveillance, intelligence, controlled buys
• Coordination with State, Regional, and Federal authorities

School Resource Deputy

• Assigned full-time to Kent County High School,
  visits other County Schools
• Plays 3 roles:Counselor, Teacher,
  Law Enforcement Officer

Services Division

• Serve civil summons, complaints,
  evictions, protective orders
• Serve criminal summons
• Execute arrest warrants
• Provide security for the Kent County Courthouse

Community Policing Unit

• Relationships with community organizations
• Outreach in crime prevention

Incident Command Vehicle

• Emergency communications capabilities (radio, telefax, Internet)     
• Emergency equipment (lighting, traffic control)

Tactical Team

• Execution of search warrants
• Hostage/barricaded subject situations
