Alcoholic Beverage and Tobacco Inspector BIOGRAPHY Robert A. Edler, Jr., is a lifelong resident of Kent County and graduate of Kent County Public Schools. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, and was Honorably Discharged in 1987. One month later he began his twenty-five-year career in law enforcement with the Chestertown Police Department; serving eight years as the Chief of Police. Rob joined Kent County as the Alcoholic Beverage and Tobacco Inspector in 2014. Inspector Edler is a Certified Trainer for TIPS (Techniques for Intervention Procedures), Trainer No. 58476 and a State of Maryland Alcohol Awareness Instructor, Permit No. AI-64206. Inspector Edler has trained over 500 participants ensuring the responsible sale, service, and consumption of alcohol. Inspector Edler enforces State and Local alcoholic beverage and tobacco regulations, conducts compliance checks, and assists new licensees with obtaining the proper licenses. In addition to regulatory enforcement, Inspector Edler provides education through various civic organizations to expand awareness and increase community engagement regarding alcohol and tobacco.
