  • The class will be held at the Clay Studio from 6 - 8:30 pm on Wednesdays, running from January 5th through February 9th. (6 weeks)

    This 6 week course introduces basic pottery wheel techniques to beginning students with a focus on throwing bowl and cylinder forms. Students will be shown the step-by-step process of wedging, centering, throwing, trimming, and glazing clay into finished pieces. Class time and the encouraged Open Studio practice time will enable students to create at their own level and improve their skills with clay.

    Included with instruction is 25 pounds of cone 6 clay.

    This course introduces the fundamentals of handbuilding to students of any experience level. Students will learn the process of handbuilding through pinching, coiling and slab building clay, and glaze their work into finished pieces to take home with them. Class time and the encouraged Open Studio practice time will enable students to create at their own level and improve their skills with clay.

    Included with instruction is 25 pounds of cone 6 clay.

  • PRY is an environmental art exhibition in 2 locations by Baltimore-based artist, Stephanie Garon. It can be experienced inside Kohl Gallery and outside the Semans-Griswold Environmental Hall on the public walking path near the Chester River. It uses the invasive plant species Phragmites australis as subject and material to explore questions related to our human relationship with the natural world in the age of the Anthropocene. Visit both locations! It is presented collaboratively by Washington College's Center for Environment and Society, River and Field Campus, and Kohl Gallery. Garon will give a public talk on February 10 at 6pm in Tawes Theatre in the Gibson Center for the Arts.

  • A smash hit farce and worldwide phenomenon, welcome to opening night of the Cornley University Drama Society’s newest production, “The Murder at Haversham Manor,” where things are quickly going from bad to utterly disastrous. But while this play seems on the surface to be a 1920s whodunit, the play is really about the actors attempting to perform it.
