PUBLIC HEARING - May 21, 2013

Community Development Block Grant

A public hearing was held today at 6:13 p.m. in the Commissioners’ Hearing Room, R. Clayton Mitchell Jr., County Government Center, Chestertown, Maryland, to obtain comments on housing and community development needs, and offer citizens the opportunity to review an application on the Kent County Housing Improvement Program – Phase IX which Kent County proposes to submit to the State of Maryland on or before Friday, May 31, 2013.

County Commissioners, Ronald Fithian and William Short were in attendance as well as Ernest Crofoot, County Administrator, Amy Moredock, Director, and Bill Kerbin, Housing Planner, Planning, Housing, and Zoning.

Commissioner Fithian read the public notice into record.

Mr. Kerbin explained this is a continuation of the Housing Improvement Program. This will be Phase IX, and is used for repairs to owner/occupied homes for FY2014. There is no County cash match and an in-kind match is currently in the proposed budget for FY2014. The grant request is for $100,000.000, $80,000.00 for rehabilitation and $20,000.00 for administration.

Commissioner Fithian invited comments and questions from the audience. No one from the audience wished to comment.

The hearing was taped for reference and the Commissioners adjourned the public hearing at 6:18 p.m.
