CHR 3-2014 Administration of Government

A public hearing was held today at 6:05 p.m. in the Commissioners’ Hearing Room, R. Clayton Mitchell Jr., County Government Center, Chestertown, Maryland, for CHR 3-2014, which is AN ACT to amend Chapter 3 Administration of Government, of the Code of Public Local Laws of Kent County, Maryland. The purpose of the amendment to this chapter is to increase the compensation of the County Commissioners.

County Commissioners, Ronald Fithian, William Pickrum, and William Short were in attendance. Ernest A. Crofoot, County Administrator and County Attorney, was also in attendance.

Commissioner Fithian read the public notice into the record. Commissioner Fithian explained that the compensation for County Commissioners has been $15,000.00 per year for twelve years. If the legislation passes, Commissioners taking office on or after December 2, 2014 shall receive an annual salary of $20,000.00.

Commissioner Fithian invited comments and questions from the audience, no one from the audience commented.

Written comments will be accepted in the Commissioners’ Office until Friday, June 13, 2014, at 12:00 p.m.

A motion was made by Commissioner Pickrum, seconded by Commissioner Short and carried unanimously to adjourn the public hearing.

The hearing was taped for reference and the Commissioners adjourned the public hearing at 6:08 p.m.
