Special Announcements
December 7, 2016
Covington Machine & Welding will be at Chestertown bridge today to perform some tests. Motorists may experience a few short drawbridge openings.
November 30, 2016 - Postponed Lane Closures
Due to weather, deck patching on the MD 213 bridge over Chester River is now scheduled for Thursday 12/1 and Friday 12/2. This work will require daytime single lane closures and flagging; motorists are reminded to plan a little extra time for travel through Chestertown between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. both days.
November 21, 2016 - Daytime Lane Closures
Weather permitting, SHA will close one lane of the MD 213 bridge over Chester River tomorrow (Tuesday, 11/22), 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to paint light poles and railing. Overnight temperatures are now too cold for painting so any remaining work will likely occur during the daytime. We still anticipate this project will be completed within the next few days. Please share this information as appropriate.
November 18, 2016 - Progress Report and Lane Closures
Weather permitting, SHA will patch the MD 213 bridge over Chester River November 29-30. This will be daytime work, 9am to 3pm, and will require single lane closures and flagging.
This is routine concrete patching of the fixed span, one lane at a time. We've had this work planned for quite a while; just waiting for the drawbridge painting to finish. With cool temperatures the patches will likely need a few hours to cure before we can open the lane to traffic so motorists may see a lane closure with nobody working for a few hours and wonder what's happening. Rest assured we'll open the lane as soon as it's safe to do so.
September 16, 2016 - Progress Report.
Project started on schedule September 7th.
Work consisted of installation of containment system to begin the cleaning process. System installed by 9-12-16.
Work stopped on Saturday 9-10-16 after 11am to accommodate Jazz Festival.
Night work began on 9-13-16 and continues.
June 15, 2016 - The Maryland State Highway Administration's Office of Structures will have a contractor performing routine maintenance operations on the MD 213 Chestertown draw bridge on or about Monday, June 20, 2016. Work will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and may include test openings of the bridge that should last no longer than those needed for an average vessel’s passage. Work will be performed by Covington Machine and Welding, Inc. of Annapolis. In coordination with this work, a pile driving rig/barge is scheduled to pass through the draw span channel. This equipment is not related to current SHA bridge maintenance or repair work.
