This class is perfect for those new to watercolor or seeking to better understand this fluid and challenging medium. Students will explore essential topics like watercolor paper, brushes, pigments, values, edges, transparency versus opacity, and color theory. Using a limited palette of primary colors, participants will learn to control water and pigments, experiment with transparency and opacity, and apply various techniques to enhance their paintings. Each session includes clear objectives, live demonstrations, and a guided project, with all supplies provided.

Reimagined Runway is Chestertown RiverArts' annual fashion extravaganza where artists craft high-fashion attire and costumes from recycled and repurposed materials. Attendees can enjoy a lively atmosphere, participate in a silent auction, and support future arts initiatives.

Join us for a hands-on Mending Workshop where you’ll learn simple, practical skills to repair your own clothing and jewelry. Bring items you want to fix, and we’ll provide the tools, supplies, and guidance to help you bring them back to life.

Sewing machines, hand-sewing supplies, and basic jewelry repair tools will all be available.

Based in Philadelphia, virtuoso pianist James Fernando masterfully
leads his trio in fresh interpretations of jazz standards --Duke Ellington, Oscar Peterson, and Thelonious Monk -- alongside compelling originals. Expect playfulness and technical mastery, inventive improvisation, captivating rhythms, and “downright fun.”

Percussionist Dane Krich and Trumpeter Luis Engelke bring an exciting and innovative program to The Mainstay titled “Brass and Percussion: The Classical Side.” The program includes works by J. S. Bach, Baroque-era composer Jean Joseph Mouret, and contemporary composers Mitchel Peters and Jason Dovel. Dimas Sedícias’s Engelkeana Agrestina, composed for Engelke, will have its world premier at this concert.

Local singer/songwriter Barbara Parker has such a gift. Her strong, just-right voice and heartfelt original songs instantly bring us elsewhere as few vocalists can. Her musical palette pays tribute to the grand folk dames of classic coffeehouses and the stars of old time country music. She is equally capable of delivering the iconic tunes of Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt, Carly Simon, and James Taylor.
