Kent County Arts and Entertainment Events- May 2025

For beginner and intermediate students of the potter’s wheel, to learn and emphasize the handbuilding skills that round out your pottery making skills. In addition to working with slabs and coils, the class will cover plaster and some tool making. At least one class will take place at my home studio.

For beginning and continuing students. Coils, slabs, and pinch pots. Experience the basic ways people have formed clay throughout the millennia. Learn the techniques and get creative!

Astrophysicist Dr. Lynn Cummings has always believed in science over faith in the unknown. But now that her life is changing, the certainty that was once a source of comfort has become a source of emptiness. When an unidentified flying object is sighted heading toward Earth, she grants an interview to a journalist who misquotes her. With her credibility on the line, she invites him to witness the object as it comes closest to the Earth with her. Dr. Cummings hopes it will pass without incident, but there is no telling what she will discover beyond the stars.

Ken Cowan is making his 28th appearance as guest organist on the Concert Series. He is Associate Professor of Organ at the Shepherd School of Music, Riche University, Houston, Texas and a guest artist across America, Europe and elsewhere.

Season tickets and individual concert tickets are available at the church office or on the evening of the performance.
A reception for the artist and attendees will be held immediately after the performance in the Church's Parish Hall.

Join us for a fun afternoon creating a wreath with friends and sipping some wine with snacks. All materials will be provided – just be ready to have a good time! You will have a beautiful wreath to take home at the end of the workshop.  Hurry - space is very limited.

This class is perfect for those new to watercolor or seeking to better understand this fluid and challenging medium. Students will explore essential topics like watercolor paper, brushes, pigments, values, edges, transparency versus opacity, and color theory. Using a limited palette of primary colors, participants will learn to control water and pigments, experiment with transparency and opacity, and apply various techniques to enhance their paintings. Each session includes clear objectives, live demonstrations, and a guided project, with all supplies provided.
