Joe Holt, impresario and accompanist for The Mainstay’s First Friday programs excels in arranging programs that mostly tap his rich history of jazz associates. For his October 6th show, Joe welcomes three of the mid-Atlantic’s favorite jazz personalities – Amy Shook on acoustic upright bass, Steve Silbert on tenor sax, Steve Abshire on guitar, with Joe on the piano. The group plays together throughout the region several times a year under the name the Sholbertshires (a loosely formed acronym of the players’ last names).

Join us to celebrate the installation of two new works from Chestertown's Woicke Collection of Public Sculpture. Artist Adam Walls will be on hand to answer questions and meet members of the community.

The Museum and Community Partners are sharing a collection of exhibits created by Washington College students for use by Kent County museums. Exhibits include panels, virtual tours, audio clips, and other digital content. The five Museums included are:

Join RiverArts and Casa Carmen Wines for a night of painting and wine as instructor Kris Kelley Majors will teach you how to add ghosts, cats, and other spooky details into vintage paintings. Enjoy Casa's premium selection of wine and vermouth as you paint your masterpiece in their bright and beautiful event space. All supplies will be provided and a selection of vintage paintings will be available for you to choose from.

Did you ever want to learn how to use the Clay Extruder that lives inside the Clay Studio? Now's your chance! Join Paul Aspell in a one-day workshop and experience the process.

This is a hands-on workshop. Everyone will complete a few clay projects to be bisque fired by the Clay Studio Staff, and glazed in a single color, if requested. Alternative glazing arrangements can be made during class. All pieces will be ready for pickup at the Clay Studio by October 28th.

Paul Aspell has worked in clay for over 45 years and taught both high school and adult clay classes.

A reading from Romantic Comedy with James Allen Hall.

James Allen Hall is the author most recently of Romantic Comedy. They are the recipient of fellowships from the National Endowment of the Arts, the Maryland State Arts Council, the Lambda Literary Foundation, the Texas Institute of Letters, the Fellowship of Southern Writers, Bread Loaf, Sewanee, and the University of Arizona Poetry Center. They direct the Rose O'Neill Literary House at Washington College, where they serve as Associate Professor of English and Editor of Cherry Tree, a national literary magazine.

The Music Department presents Green Day's American Idiot, directed by Ernie Green.
American Idiot is a sung through rock musical based on the Green Day album "American Idiot". This musical is centered on three young adults that run away from the suburbs to try out life in the city.

Chestertown RiverArts Annual Studio Tour allows the visitor a chance to take a sneak peak inside Kent and Queen Anne’s Counties creative spaces. This free, self-guided tour on the picturesque Eastern Shore of Maryland takes place over two Fall weekends rain or shine. This year 55 + artists, many nationally known, invite visitors in to talk, check out how they work, and provide the opportunity to buy original artwork at studio prices. Media includes painting, photography, prints, mixed media, jewelry, pottery, woodworking, metal and glass art, weaving, quilts and other fiber art, and whimsical

Robin and Linda are closing in on a five decade-long career that has included 24 personal recordings, thousands of concerts on three continents, a Robert Altman directed movie, and hundreds of performances during the glory days of NPR's "A Prairie Home Companion”.

As live performers they are second to none and are at home on whatever stage they find themselves, be it a tiny coffee house or bar, or a large, storied concert hall or festival.

The Washington College Concert Series presents Marissa McGowan, offering an evening of some of her favorite songs, with stories from her 20-year career as a Broadway Actress. McGowan most recently appeared on Broadway in the Roundabout Theatre Company’s Revival of Kiss Me Kate at Studio 54.

Washington College's Theatre and Dance Department presents "Prometheus Burning: an adaption of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein" by Tyler Rossi; a Performance SCE from Niko Chen.
Prometheus Burning is a retelling of the classic story of Victor Frankenstein and his Creature. When Victor loses his mother and goes on an academic rampage trying to defeat death, he brings something completely anew into the world. But when he rejects his creation, he dooms himself and his loved ones to a slow death, wracked with grief and pain on all sides.
