KENT COUNTY, MARYLAND

The Honorable Board of License Commissioners met today with the following present: Larry B. Beck, W. Michael Newnam, and Ronald H. Fithian, presiding.

SPECIAL LICENSE

The Commissioners approved a one day only Class C Beer, Wine and Liquor license for the Shared Opportunity Service, Inc., to hold a fund raising event on March 23 at the Prince Theatre, Chestertown.

ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE VIOLATION
SHORE STOP OF ROCK HALL, INC.

In follow-up from last week's administrative hearing relating to the alcoholic beverage violation that took place at Shore Stop of Rock Hall, Inc., on January 3, the Commissioners received correspondence from Mark Spencer Cropper, Esq., representing Shore Stop of Rock Hall, Inc., proposing that Shore Stop voluntarily suspend its liquor license for 30 days and voluntarily pay a fine of $500.00. Mr. Cropper offers that under these circumstances, the Board would not be required to make a finding that a violation to Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland occurred. The Commissioners unanimously agreed not to approve Mr. Cropper's resolution. The Commissioners determined a violation to Article 2B, Section 12-108 of the Annotated Code of Maryland did occur. A $500.00 fine will be imposed as well as a suspension of their alcoholic beverage license for ninety days, however, seventy-six of the ninety-days will be waived. The fourteen day suspension will begin on February 25, 2002. This violation constitutes the third violation in six years.

HAWK-EYE'S TAVERN

In follow-up from last week, when Mr. Stetson reported on violation at Hawk-eye's Tavern to Article 2B Section 13-101 of the Annotated Code of Maryland as it relates to the failure to have an individual certified in alcohol awareness training present, an administrative hearing will be held on February 19 at 10:15 a.m.

There being no further business to claim their attention, the Board adjourned to meet again on Tuesday, February 19, 2002.
