Board of License Commissioners

May 7, 2002

The Honorable Board of License Commissioners met today with the following present: Larry B. Beck, W. Michael Newnam, and Ronald H. Fithian, presiding.

SPECIAL LICENSE

The Commissioners approved the following special licenses:

Two Class C Beer licenses for the Rock Hall Sons of the American Legion to hold fund raising events on July 4 (4th of July Parade) and July 7 (Waterman's Day) at the Civic Center and Bayside Public Landing, respectively, in Rock Hall.

A two day only Class C Beer license for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society to hold a bike tour and awards ceremony on June 1- 2 at Wilmer Park, Chestertown.

A three day only Class C Beer license for the Maryland Waterman's Association Rockfish Tournament Committee to hold a fishing tournament on July 7-9 at the Bayside Public Landing, in Rock Hall.

PRINCE THEATRE

A Special Theater (on sale) Beer, Wine and Liquor License was received form Ronald Kerns for Prince Theatre. This type of license was approved by the 2002 General Assembly to be effective June 1, 2002. A public hearing has been scheduled for June 4 at 10:00 a.m.

OLD OARS INN

A public hearing was held at 10:00 a.m. on the application received from Jane McInerney, President, and James E. Cecil, Sr., Vice President, representing Upstairs, Inc., for a Class B Beer, Wine, and Liquor (Caterer's Privilege), (Sunday Sale Privilege) License. Ms. McInerney was in attendance.

Commissioner Fithian read the notice of public hearing into the record.

Mr. Stetson advised that all applicants have been fingerprinted. He reported that Ms. McInerney attended the alcohol awareness class and Mr. Cecil has inquired to attend the next class available.

Mr. Stetson advised the application was in order and recommended the issuance of the license. Ms. McInerney advised that she intended to focus the business on food sales and the bar hours may be decreased during the week.

There was no one in attendance who wished to speak for or against this application.

A motion was made by Commissioner Newnam, seconded by Commissioner Beck and made unanimous by Commissioner Fithian to approve the license; a certified accountant's statement will be required to be submitted in six months. The Commissioners wished Ms. McInerney well with her new business endeavor.

This hearing was taped for reference and adjourned at 10:14 a.m.

There being no further business to claim their attention, the Board adjourned to meet again on Tuesday, May 14, 2002.
