The Honorable Board of License Commissioners met today with the following present: Larry B. Beck, W. Michael Newnam, and Ronald H. Fithian, presiding.

PRINCE THEATRE

A public hearing was held at 10:00 a.m. on the application received from Ronald Kerns of Prince Theatre for a Special Theater (on sale) Beer, Wine and Liquor License. Mr. Kerns was in attendance.

Commissioner Fithian read the notice of public hearing into the record.

Mr. Stetson advised that this was a new type of alcoholic beverage license recently passed by the 2002 General Assembly at the request of Kent County and went into effect on June 1. Mr. Stetson reported that the applicant has been fingerprinted and was scheduled for a future alcoholic beverage awareness class.

Mr. Stetson advised that correspondence was received from H. Robert Yeager, Chestertown, expressing safety concerns relating to exits ways being impeded by tables, bar, etc., should an evacuation be required during an emergency. Mr. Kerns advised that although there are five exits, changes would be made to ensure all exits were clear.

There was no one in attendance who wished to speak for or against this application.

A motion was made by Commissioner Beck, seconded by Commissioner Fithian and passed by the majority of the Board to approve the license; a certified accountant's statement will be required to be submitted in six months. The Commissioners wished Mr. Kerns well.

This hearing was taped for reference and adjourned at 10:08 a.m.

There being no further business to claim their attention, the Board adjourned to meet again on Tuesday, June 18, 2002.
