November 19, 2002

The Honorable Board of License Commissioners met today with the following present: Larry B. Beck, W. Michael Newnam, and Ronald H. Fithian, presiding.

Mauritz Stetson, Alcoholic Beverage Inspector, appeared to discuss the following issues:

SPECIAL LICENSE

The Commissioners approved a one day Special Class C Beer Wine and Liquor License for the Betterton Volunteer Fire Company for the Ducks Unlimited Dinner on November 23 at the Betterton Fire House.

SUPER SODA II

A public hearing was held at 9:15 a.m. on the application was received from Kausar Mahmood, President, and Melvin O. Standridge, Assistant Secretary, representing the JK Flatland for a transfer of a Class A Beer, Wine and Liquor License. Mrs. Mahmood and Mr. Standridge were in attendance along with Alex Rasin, Esq., legal representation.

Commissioner Fithian read the notice of public hearing into the record.

Mr. Stetson reiterated that this was a license transfer and the character of the operation will not be changing. He advised that Mrs. Mahmood had been fingerprinted and application was in order. He reported that Mrs. Mahmood had attended alcohol awareness class and her husband was the licensee for Lewes Dairy.

Mr. Rasin advised that Mrs. Mahmood has been fully apprised that as a licensee for Super Soda II, the operation must be kept separate from her husband's operation.

Mrs. Mahmood reported that store hours may be expanded .

There was no one in attendance who wished to speak for or against this application.

A motion was made by Commissioner Newnam, seconded by Commissioner Beck, and made unanimous by Commissioner Fithian to approve the license pending approval of the bulk transfer by the State. The Commissioners wished Mrs. Mahmood well with the business.

This hearing was taped for reference and adjourned at 9:20 a.m.

There being no further business to claim their attention, the Board adjourned to meet again on Wednesday, November 26,
