PUBLIC HEARING - June 30, 2015

CHR 3-2015 Pawnbrokers and Secondhand Dealers

A public hearing was held today at 6:15 p.m. in the Commissioners’ Hearing Room, R. Clayton Mitchell Jr., County Government Center, Chestertown, Maryland, for Code Home Rule Bill No. 3-2015 Pawnbrokers and Secondhand Dealers which is AN ACT to add Chapter 120 Pawnbrokers and Secondhand Dealers to the Code of Public Local Laws of Kent County, Maryland. The purpose of this Chapter is to regulate the purchase, sale, record-keeping, and reporting of certain transactions involving used items of value within Kent County Maryland; to prevent the transfer of lost, stolen, or other illegally obtained items not regulated under Article 12, Business Regulation Article, Annotated Code of Maryland; and to enhance the traceability and recovery of lost, stolen, or illegally obtained items.

County Commissioners, William Pickrum, Ronald Fithian, and William Short were in attendance. Ernest A. Crofoot, County Administrator and County Attorney was also in attendance.

Commissioner Pickrum read the public notice into the record.

Commissioner Pickrum invited comments and questions from the audience. There were no further comments.

Written comments will be accepted in the Commissioners’ office until Monday, July 6, 2015, at 12:00 p.m.

A motion was made by Commissioner Short, seconded by Commissioner Fithian and carried unanimously to adjourn the public hearing.

The hearing was taped for reference and the Commissioners adjourned the public hearing at 6:18 p.m.
