Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Eastern Shore operates a community-based mentoring program in Kent County. Mentors (Bigs) over 18 are matched with youth (Littles) ages 6-16 to get together on their own and share fun activities they both enjoy. Once a match is established the Little can stay until 18 years old. The program is flexible to accommodate a variety of schedules. Volunteers meet with a child for two to three hours, once to twice a month for a minimum of one year. Consistency and commitment are the cornerstones of this program. 

 

Check their Facebook page for "Waiting Wednesday" announcements - a brief description of a child waiting for a mentoring match.  There is currently a waiting list (Littles waiting for a Big) in Kent County.
