    Hackett has received numerous honors and awards, including DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities Artist Fellowship and Grant, Civil Society Institute Fellowship at Vermont Studio Center Residency, The Ruth Katzman Scholarship at The League Residency, Best in Show at the 2014 Bethesda Painting Awards Exhibition, and Best in Show at the Regional Juried Biennial at Rehoboth Arts League.

  • Sam Nester is a passionate educator and advocate for high quality arts education programs. Since 2010, Nester has designed interactive education programs for a number of organizations and institutions in New York. He currently serves on trumpet faculty for The Juilliard School’s Music Advancement Program, a Saturday instruction program that actively seeks students from diverse backgrounds underrepresented in the classical music field. Additionally, Nester serves as the artistic director for Bridge Arts Ensemble, an arts education organization.

  • In 2019, Sharon Sable and Joe Holt performed a Blossom Dearie arrangement of Tea For Two in a Mainstay Monday
    show, their very first performance together. It was a seamless moment in which they both felt at home. So much so, that they decided to work on a project to honor the unique voice and repertoire, extraordinary piano accompaniment, and remarkable career of Blossom Dearie. With a career spanning six decades, Blossom’s recordings are still delighting a loyal following of music lovers and fellow musicians.

  • The first production of the season teams up two associated one-act plays by James McLure. Laundry and Bourbon and Lone Star are the individual one-act titles, but they are frequently presented together under the title 1959 Pink Thunderbird in reference to a car that is mentioned prominently in both plays. "Laundry and Bourbon" is directed by Jennifer Kafka Smith and "Lone Star" is directed by Steven Arnold. The performers will be live on our stage. Ticketholders will watch the live stream during performance times. Performance dates are April 30, May 1, May 7 and May 8. Show starts at 8PM.
