  • Help Us Sing in the Holidays
    Come hear your Chester River Chorale give its 19th annual Holiday Concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday December 1st or 4 p.m. Saturday December 2nd at the Presbyterian Church of Chestertown. Artistic Director Douglas Cox has put together a program spanning the ages to celebrate the season. The 90-member Chorale will be joined again by the Chester River Youth Choir.   • The Hanukkah and Christmas spirit is all around us here in Kent County. Join us at Chester River Wine & Cheese Co. for our holiday wine tasting. During our daily tasting we are sampling a diverse collection of red, white, and sparkling wines. These wines are hand selected by Jenn and John to complement the food and spirit of the season, including two amazing Kosher wines from Israel.

    There is no fee to participate. You may even find a few delicious samples to enjoy while you're with us! We're also delighted to offer a half-case discount on wines we're sampling during the tasting.

  • The all-ages community concert band directed by Dr. Keith A. Wharton and based in Chestertown will present a program of sacred and secular music to celebrate the Christmas and Hanukkah season. The audience will be invited to participate in the finale, "The Ultimate Christmas Sing-Along," and then to join the band members for refreshments.

    New members are welcome at any time, without audition, fee, or section-size limits. Monday-night rehearsals will resume in January at Washington College (Gibson #116).

    The band is supported by a Kent County Arts Council grant and community donations.

The core group of Meredith Hadaway (Celtic harp & concertina), Ben Bennington (guitar & vocals) and Rebekah Hardy (oboe) will be joined by special guests Bob Ortiz (percussion), Nevin Dawson (viola) and singer and songwriter Pam Ortiz for an afternoon of holiday cheer.   • Looking for a fun collaborative art project that will be prominently displayed in the library?

    Spend part of your winter break helping us create a community mural in the style of Diego Rivera! The library will provide all materials and participants will receive a tiny section of the finished piece to enlarge and replicate on a larger canvas.

    We'll be sharing the book Diego Rivera: His World and Ours and limited copies will be available for FREE to those who attend.

    Choose from an assortment of games on hand or bring a favorite game to share, talk RPGs and gaming mechanics - it's a great evening out and all ages are welcome.

    KCPL now has a small collection of games for adults and teens that can be checked out. Try one during game night or take it home to play.

  • Ring in the new year with a potluck supper and music with Joe Holt at the piano. Bring one of your good potluck specialties to share, enough to feed several people, but don't bring alcohol, the Mainstay (cash) bar will be open. Rock Hall's annual hat parade is at 6:45. There's more info about that on Rock Hall's website, but it's always a fun event and the Mainstay is the perfect spot to watch from or to use as a base to be a part of the festivities. Meanwhile it will be toasty warm in The Mainstay. It's free but please RSVP - give us a call so we can plan.
