Every Monday night pianist Joe Holt hosts an evening of diverse music. Joe’s special guest for this evening is Robert Redd on piano. Robert is a Mainstay favorite who is touring these days with the Duke Ellington Orchestra. Tonight he joins Joe, for the first time, for a delightful 2 piano evening. Trumpeters Paul Neebe and Ben Lostocco will perform with organist Tim Robson at Emmanuel Church on Friday evening January 12, 2018.  Proceeds from the concert will go to support the NMF lunches provided by Emmanuel during the summer 2018 Festival. 

An evening of swinging jazz standards as Robert Redd on piano takes some time off from his busy touring schedule with the Duke Ellington Orchestra to appear with his brother, the internationally known vibraphonist Chuck Redd and from Australia via NYC, the fabulous Nicki Parrott on vocals and bass. These Mainstay favorites will warm a cold January night with their sparkling fresh takes on standards from the Great American Songbook and beyond. If you love to sing, the Chester River Chorale wants you! Come join us at 6 p.m. Monday January 15 in Wesley Hall at Chestertown’s Heron Point as we begin our 20th season. Our ages range from college student to octogenarian. Our voices range from soprano to bass. No auditions required. Dues are $50 with students free as we begin to practice for our annual mid-April spring program. Its title—Leaves of Bluegrass—should give a hint of the original oratorio that we will sing backed up by a bluegrass band. Those singing with the Chorale will also be eligible to join the National Musical Festival orchestra in June for the Mozart Requiem. The Uptown Vocal Jazz Quartet, backed by their jazz rhythm section have built a loyal audience across five continents with their stylized arrangements of head-turning original songs and harmonically rich renditions of American Songbook classics. With their tight harmonies, engaging presentation and vocal sass, they have put their creative signature on a group vocal style that mixes great fun with great art.
