  • Bring your enthusiasm and your questions to this interactive presentation about the BIGGEST sporting event on the planet! Every four years, over 200 countries compete to win soccer's greatest prize: the FIFA World Cup.

    Whether you're a soccer nut or simply curious to know more about the sport, join Graham Ramsay, executive director of The Soccer School, at this informational and interactive program for teens and adults.

  • Laurie Cumpston's fine illustrative works have been well-received since she was a teenager. At 17, Laurie drew a border for Vernon Goode's Famous Houses of Kent, which was presented to Queen Elizabeth. In the decades since, she has found inspiration in nature and mythology. No detail is too small for her crow quill pen!

    On May 2nd from 5-7pm, Laurie will host an opening reception for her exhibit at Kent County Public Library's Chestertown Branch. All are welcome to meet the artist, be among the first to view the exhibit, and enjoy the company of other art enthusiasts.

    The exhibit will remain on display through the month of May.

  • On First Friday, May 4th, Bonnie Howell will be the featured artist for The Artists' Gallery. In "Water Level", Bonnie's work in oil reflects the peaceful nature of the beauty that surrounds us. She has a BA from St. Andrews University and a teaching certificate from Washington College. She taught art publicly and privately over the years before forming The Artists' Gallery partnership in 2003. Bonnie works primarily in oil and regularly features paintings of life- portraits and nature - at The Artists' Gallery.

  • Ken Cowan, the world renowned organist will play his twenty-third concert on the Emmanuel Series. Mr. Cowan is regarded as on of North America's finest concert organist. Praised for dazzling artistry, impeccable technique and imaginative programming by audiences and critics alike, he maintains a rigorous performance schedule playing in church and concert halls across America, Canada, Europe and Asia. Mr. Cowan earned a Bachelor of Music from the Curtis Institute and a masters degree from Yale. Currently he is head of the organ program at the Shepherd School of Music, Rice University,

  • International known and respected Ken Cown will make his 23rd appearance on this concert series. He is Associate Professor of Organ at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music in Houston, Texas., He made several recording which are available.

  • African-American poet and playwright Robert Earl Price returns to Kent County Public Library to continue to the conversation started during his February program. With poetry and thoughtful observations, Mr. Price invites the audience to engage with the theme of the heroism of survival in an oppressive society.

    Robert Earl Price is a poet and playwright whose work often incorporates the lyricism and rhythm of Jazz and Blues. He is black cultural worker and a veteran of the Black Arts Movement that influenced and was influenced by the recent Civil Rights movement. His poetry strives to capture the visceral impact of the heroism of survival in an oppressive society

  • The Eastern Shore Wind Ensemble, conducted by Dr. Keith A. Wharton, will take its audience to cities near and far in its final concert of the season. The program features medleys that celebrate two American cities in particular: "Chicago (That Toddlin' Town)" and "Salute to New York." The spirit of other American cities and towns is conveyed in "Quad City Stomp," "River City," Bridgeview," "Delmar Celebration," and "Nightflight." European cities are represented by "Un Petit Cafe a Paris" and the Finale from "The Pines of Rome."

    The ESWE is an all-ages community band founded in 2001. New members are always welcome, without audition or fee.
