  • The class will be held at the Clay Studio from 2 - 4:30 pm on Thursdays, running from March 31st through May 5th. (6 weeks)

    This course introduces the fundamentals of handbuilding to students of any experience level. Students will learn the process of handbuilding through pinching, coiling and slab building clay, and glaze their work into finished pieces to take home with them. Class time and the encouraged Open Studio practice time will enable students to create at their own level and improve their skills.

    Included with instruction is twenty-five pounds of cone 6 clay.

    This 6-week course is intended to be a "next step" for returning beginners. Students will expand and refine their skillset through skills instruction and weekly project assignments. This class is a great opportunity for you to move beyond the basic techniques and deepen your experience with wheel-thrown clay.

    Included with instruction is twenty-five pounds of cone 6 clay (Standard Brown 112) and six Open Studio tickets.

  • In October 1998 21year-old University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard was kidnapped, severely beaten, and left tied to a fence in the middle of the prairie outside Laramie, Wyoming. His bloody, bruised, and battered body was not discovered until the next day, and he died several days later in an area hospital.He was the victim of this assault because he was gay.Moisés Kaufman and fellow members of the Tectonic Theater Project made six trips to Laramie over the course of a year and a half in the aftermath of the beating and during the trial of the two young men accused of the killing.

  • "Paint the Town" is a 4-day event and artists have the opportunity to lose themselves while exploring the beautiful countryside and capturing it in their paintings. After 3 days of painting, artists gather back together on Saturday afternoon to frame & hang their finished work in RiverArts' gallery in preparation for the "Wet Paint Show & Sale. Once the show is up, the participating artists vote for "Best in Show" and "Best Body of Work". The ribbons will be placed just before the show opens to the public.

    RiverArts is excited to once again host an art show for Kent County's preschool-12th grade students this spring. The show will be entitled ART IS ELEMENTAL. We believe that making and viewing Art plays a crucial role in encouraging community members of all ages to process and interpret their life experiences. In addition, we wish to recognize the vital work art teachers do in teaching the elements of art so that students have the tools to express themselves.

    The exhibit will take place from May 6-May 29. The artwork will be displayed in both galleries.

  • The New York Times has called Stephane Wrembel "Perhaps the most creative improviser in Gypsy jazz today.” Wrembel is one of the most highly regarded guitarists in the world specializing in the style of legendary composer/guitarist Django Reinhardt. He learned his craft among the Gypsies at campsites in the French countryside. He has had a remarkable career, touring the world, while releasing 16 albums under his name and the nom de plume, The Django Experiment. Rolling Stone Magazine: "A revelation."

  • Della Mae is a 5-piece, all-women bluegrass group that frequently headlines major festivals. They are a former nominee for a Grammy in the Best Bluegrass Album category, and have shared the stage with Willie Nelson, Del McCoury, and Alison Krauss. They deliver songs that can tell an emotional story with just a line of lyrics, and they play their instruments with finesse and passion. They have spent the last three years touring full time throughout the USA and abroad.
