Join environmental artist, Stephanie Garon and Director of the River and Field Campus, Michael Hardesty for this participatory, informative experience. In this 2-hour OUTDOOR workshop, you will be introduced to the artist's creative process, the Phragmites australis plant, and you will actively participate in the removal of this invasive species from the Chester Riverbank. The plants extracted during the workshop will be used in the artist's upcoming exhibit, PRY opening late January 2022 in Chestertown. Free and open to the public.

On First Friday, November 5th, The Artists' Gallery will present "Coastal Visions" by Barbara Zuehlke with an opening reception to meet the artist from 5-8 pm. Barbara is a partner with The Artists' Gallery and an award winning artist who brings to life the magic of the Eastern Shore, capturing the waterfowl, reflections of boats and clouds, along with the striking colors of the farm fields. Painting in watercolor, wet on wet, Barbara is a triad painter, working with three colors on her palette- one red, one blue and one yellow. All colors and values are mixed from these three pigments.

Adults and teens welcome!
Learn to indigo dye during the “blue” hours! We will learn about indigo and explore various Shibori resist methods while creating some great gifts. When you’re ready to dye you will see the wonder of indigo as your creation emerges from the dye bath colored green and turns blue before your eyes. We will be using a synthetic indigo vat to dye 1 pairs of bamboo socks and a cotton bandana (27” x 27”).

The Washington College Concert Series presents percussionist Eric Plewinski who will showcase the colorful array of repertoire in the solo percussion genre. Join Eric on a rhythmic journey exploring many instruments, timbres, and moods spoken through the voice of the unique instrumentation of the percussion family. Individual tickets are $20 (adults) and $15 (non-WC College Students / Seniors 65 and over). Youth 18 and under are free.

Frank Vignola is one of the most extraordinary guitarists performing before the public today. His stunning virtuosity has made him the guitarist of choice for many of the world’s top musicians, including Ringo Starr, Madonna and more. Still in his 20s, Raniolo has already performed alongside Tommy Emmanuel, Tony Trishka, Bucky Pizzarelli and David Grisman. Vignola and Raniolo have been touring together as a guitar duo for nearly four years, and have played hundreds of shows together.

Sue Matthews and Robert Redd will be returning to the Mainstay with their new "Songbook Series" show, the Life and Lyrics of Sammy Cahn. This will be the 10th in their "Songbook Series", which celebrates the artists and their music from our Great American Songbook. All have been debuted with great success, at The Mainstay. Joining them on bass will be Tommy Cecil, and on cornet, Randy Reinhart.

No experience necessary! Open to all ages (children under 14 will need adult assistance). Clay will be provided as well as many items to imprint texture. Please feel free to bring anything of special interest (cookie cutters, imprint items) that could be used to personalize your holiday luminary! What's your style? You are limited only by your imagination. You may also trace around items, hand carve textures or personalize with your own writing. In approximately 3 weeks, your luminary will be ready for pick up at the High Street Clay Studio!

Barbara Parker is a singer/songwriter whose wide ranging musical influences create a canvas of many textures and colors on which her heartfelt lyrics are delivered. Barbara's musical gallery brings images of old time country, blues, jazz, folk, rock ballad and Great American Songbook into one exhibit; an eclectic evening of compelling songs and engaging music. Bob Taylor crosses many lanes of musical styles. He has recorded 4 albums with Angel Band & toured extensively with David Bromberg, from the Fillmore to Philadelphia Folk Festival, Canada to the Caribbean. He is also bassist for the PA based indie-art-rock band Llama Dalis.
