  • Mya Lixian Gosling is the artist and author of Good Tickle Brain, the world's foremost (and possibly only) Shakespeare stick figure webcomic, which has been posted twice-weekly online at goodticklebrain.com since 2013. Mya has degrees from Oberlin College and the University of Michigan, and formerly worked as a Southeast Asian language cataloger at the University of Michigan Graduate Library, but none of that is remotely related to what she's doing now.

  • Fred Sprock is an oil painter of landscapes and still life and has lived in Snow Hill since 2012. A native of North Carolina, Fred retired from a career in advertising to become a full-time painter, studying with Dee Beard Dean, Moran Samuel Price, and Richard Fennell to name a few. Sprock says, "Landscapes are complex. One of my goals is to simplify this jigsaw puzzle. The challenge for me is to reveal to the viewer the complexity beneath the surface of a seemingly simple visual."

  • Bruce Barber, organist and choir master of Christ Church Christiana Hundred (Delaware) will open the 2018-2019 Emmanuel Concert Series.

    The second concert of the series will be presented by the Maryland Boy Choir on November 2nd.

  • The New Vintage Gala will be an elegant evening of wine tastings from three local wineries: Crow Farm, Chateau Bu-De, and Broken Spoke, and will feature delicious food, collectible art, a cigar emporium and spirit sampling, plus new and vintage treasures. The individual ticket price is $125 per person.
    For 35 years, Saint Martin’s Ministries has provided direct services in four areas: a transitional housing program for homeless families, emergency food assistance, homelessness prevention, and a thrift store. Our clients are from the Mid-Shore counties of Kent, Queen Anne’s, Caroline, Talbot and Dorchester. Through these programs, Saint Martin’s provides services to more than 350 families each year. All those served by SMM fall below the poverty level.

    Have an old T-Shirt you want to jazz up? Join us for tie dye time at the library. We'll provide all of the dyes and supplies and you bring your shirt.
    Your shirt should be:

    -light in color (white is best)
    -made of at least 50% cotton (100% best)
    -willing to be colorific!

    Tie dyed items will remain at the library overnight and will be unveiled for pickup on Friday, October 19th at 3pm.

  • Now in its 18th year, Sultana’s Downrigging Weekend Tall Ship and Wooden Boat Festival is one of the largest annual Tall Ship gatherings on the East Coast.   • Fittingly for the Halloween season, the Eastern Shore Wind Ensemble will present a program of concert-band music with a theme of mythical creatures. Music Director Charles Thai will conduct.

    The ESWE is an all-ages community concert band that offers area wind and percussion instrumentalists the opportunity to continue or return to playing quality music in a large ensemble with a collegial, supportive atmosphere. The ensemble welcomes new members at any time, without fee or audition.

    The band is partially supported by the Kent County Arts Council.

  • This two week show will feature work by Kent County Public School visual art students. The work will be inspired by a visit the students took to view Jacob Lawrence’s Migration Series at The Philips Collection in Washington, DC.
