  • Monica Jahan Bose's paintings, works on paper, performances, workshops, and installations are symbolic narratives that address issues that include climate change, women's issues, and racial justice. The sari is a recurring symbol in her work, standing in for herself, the female body, and women's place in the world. Water is also an enduring theme, speaking to life, climate, sustenance, death, and renewal. She is a Bangladeshi and American artist, lawyer, mother, and activist.

  • The class will be held at the Clay Studio from 10:30 - 1:00 pm on Saturdays, running from September 18th through to October 2nd.

    This pottery course offers students a 3-week workshop exploring intermediate and advanced level glazing techniques. Each week you will be introduced to new glazing options for your ceramic creations! IMPORTANT: The class will not involve wet clay or wheel throwing! If you wish to glaze you own pieces during instruction, you will need to supply your own bisqueware. It is encouraged to bring at least 6 pieces of cone 6 bisque-fired pottery in preparation for the camp!

  • This pottery course offers students a 6-week intensive workshop for intermediate level wheel throwing with a focus on form and design. Each week you will address new throwing techniques and finishing options. You will discuss aspects and approaches of scale, design, construction, and glazing throughout the process. If you are looking for a skills refresh or just want to expand your ceramics repertoire, this class is for you!

    The class will be held at the Clay Studio from 6 - 8:30 pm on Mondays, running from September 20th through to October 25th.

    It’s a dark and stormy night, and you’ve been invited to a very unusual dinner party. Each of the guests has an alias, the butler offers a variety of weapons, and the host is, well…dead. So whodunnit? Join the iconic oddballs known as Scarlet, Plum, White, Green, Peacock, and Mustard as they race to find the murderer in Boddy Manor before the body count stacks up. Based on the cult classic film and the popular board game, Clue is a madcap comedy that will keep you guessing until the final twist.

  • Jeff Antoniuk & Helluvaband is one of the most aptly named jazz groups on the scene today. This collection of players have shared the stage with legends like Chick Corea, Marcus Miller, Helen Sung, The Brecker Brothers and many more. Individually, they’ve won Grammy’s, played at the White House, and toured across the globe. This is truly a hell of a band.

    Following the tradition of two decades and counting, artists in and around Kent County will open their studios to visitors on two weekends in October, to share their work, their processes, and the spaces where they create. Explore the countryside in the beautiful peak of the Eastern Shore autumn and walk Chestertown's charming downtown on self-guided tours. Visit the studios, see the work, and connect with the artists who contribute to the beautiful and rich arts tapestry of the region.

    Starting at the RiverArts Gallery, art lovers and visitors can whet their appetites on the work of our Studio Tour artists, showcased in our October exhibition. Pick up a map of Studio Tour artists and chart your course around the region to visit the artists' studios and spaces.

  • Employing photographs of Incan rocks as raw building materials, Skvirsky’s live participatory performance doubles as a community action, with the audience assisting in the building of an ephemeral Incan border wall within the gallery. The participatory performance links popular narratives concerning the persistence of pre-Columbian identity with current discourses about borders, migration, and nationhood.

  • A starting point for hi mountain, hi water is the memory of a child calling and waving ‘hi plane’ on the runway during the artist’s flight from Ireland to Montana for Mapping Meaning 2018.

    What’s big enough to handle, but small enough to care about? Ros Murray shares the absorption of her studio to connect psychological, geographic, temporal, advocacy, and art making sites in Ireland, America, and England, with Washington College live in Kohl Gallery through the online platform Zoom.   • Join environmental artist, Stephanie Garon and Director of the River and Field Campus, Michael Hardesty for this participatory, informative experience. In this 2-hour OUTDOOR workshop, you will be introduced to the artist's creative process, the Phragmites australis plant, and you will actively participate in the removal of this invasive species from the Chester Riverbank. The plants extracted during the workshop will be used in the artist's upcoming exhibit, PRY opening late January 2022 in Chestertown. Free and open to the public.

  • Allyn Johnson is a pianist, composer, and arranger whose trademark sound gives brilliance and fortitude to the art of jazz improvisation. Allyn began playing piano at the age of five, got his start playing piano for the youth choir in his uncle's church.

    Robert Redd is a current member with The Duke Ellington Orchestra, performing throughout the U.S. and abroad.

  • Performing works from the Romantic and Twentieth century, the trio combines artistry with flare. The performance includes Beethoven’s Sonata No. 8, Op. 30 No. 3, for Violin and Piano, a Trio for Flute, Violin, and Piano (1958) by Nino Rota, and a North American premier of Corentin Bossier’s Sonata for flute and piano. You won’t want to miss this! Individual tickets are $20 (adults) and $15 (non-WC College Students / Seniors 65 and over). Youth 18 and under are free.
