The Honorable Board of License Commissioners met today with the following
present: Roy W. Crow, Scott D. Livie, and William W. Pickrum, presiding.
Mauritz Stetson, Alcoholic
Beverage Inspector, was also in attendance.
VIOLATION OF ALCOHOLIC
BEVERAGE LAWS
Mauritz Stetson, Alcoholic Beverage Inspector, appeared to advise the
Commissioners of a violation to Article 27, Section 400 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (Criminal Code 10-114) as it relates to the misrepresentation
of age by a minor to induce the sale of an alcoholic beverage. This case
was closed by issuing a citation and arrest (refer to citation # 2733505649)
. The violation occurred at C-Town Liquors.
Mr. Stetson also noted the cooperation he received from the attending
employee at C-Town Liquors who made Mr. Stetson aware of this suspicious
alcohol-related purchase by a minor who, when asked, presented a fake
New Jersey driver's license. Mr. Stetson noted that the C-Town Liquor
employee's report to him was as per the training for employees given in
the Alcohol Awareness Classes.
TOBACCO LAW ENFORCEMENT
Mr. Stetson also reported on his efforts in enforcing laws governing the
sale of tobacco products. He indicated that he sent letters to the 41
establishments licensed in the County to sell tobacco products, advising
them of the laws pertaining to the location of displays of said products
(i.e. that they should be removed from the front area of the store to
the rear of the store). Mr. Stetson conveyed the cooperation and compliance
of all the licensed owners.
Mr. Stetson also advised that a video has been produced from a State grant
to the County Health Department and will be issued and presented to County
police officers and tobacco retailers in order to increase their awareness
of current tobacco laws.
There being no further business to claim their attention, the Board adjourned
to meet again on Tuesday, December 9, 2003.
