Kent County Board of License Commissioners

KENT COUNTY, MARYLAND

Board of License Commissioners

May 4, 2004

The Honorable Board of License Commissioners met today with the following present: Scott D. Livie, and William W. Pickrum, presiding. Commissioner Roy Crow arrived later in the morning due to his attendance at the Upper Shore Regional Council meeting.

Mauritz Stetson, Alcoholic Beverage Inspector, was also in attendance.

LA RUOTA RISTORANTE

A public hearing was held at 9:45 a.m. on the application received from Salvatore Evola, President, Mab Finch, Associate, both of Earleville, MD, and Annie Usilton, Associate, of Chestertown, MD, all representing La Ruota Ristorante, LLC, at 323 High Street, Chestertown, for an upgrade from a Beer and Wine License to a Beer, Wine and Liquor License, Class B (on sale).

Mr. Stetson stated that he had no objections to the application, and added that Ms. Finch, Salvatore Evola, and many of the employees of La Ruota have attended the alcohol awareness classes. He also reported that the licensees of La Ruota have requested a bulk transfer from individual to corporate ownership.

Ms. Finch stated that the purpose for the upgrade represented the licensees' interest in offering an additional service to its customers, and that the licensees have no interest in providing bar service and have no intention to change their current business hours.

There was no one present to speak for or against this application.

A motion was made by Commissioner Livie, seconded by Commissioner Pickrum, and passed by the majority of the Board to approve the application. This hearing was taped for reference and adjourned at 9:55 a.m.

PLAY IT AGAIN SAM, INC.

Peggy Mayberry, licensee, appeared and requested permission to expand her licensed premises to serve beer and wine to customers outside of her restaurant, at tables located in the alley alongside and on the patio in the rear of the restaurant. She indicated that she has already received the approval of this request from William Ingersoll, Town Manager of Chestertown.

A motion was made by Commissioner Livie, seconded by Commissioner Pickrum, and made unanimous by the majority of the Board, to approve the expansion of the licensed premises as requested by Ms. Mayberry.

Ms. Mayberry also conveyed her interest in further expanding the licensed premises sometime in the future.
