PUBLIC HEARING - March 5, 2013

CHR 2-2013 - CABLE TELEVISION FRANCHISING

A public hearing was held today at 8:02 p.m. in the Commissioners’ Hearing Room, R. Clayton Mitchell, Kent County Government Center, Chestertown, Maryland, for Code Home Rule Bill No. 2-2013, which is AN ACT to add new Chapter 76. CABLE TELEVISION FRANCHISING to the Code of Public Local Laws of Kent County, Maryland in accordance with the Federal Telecommunications Act.

County Commissioners, Ronald Fithian and William Short were in attendance as well as Ernest Crofoot, County Administrator.

Commissioner Fithian read the proposed legislation into the record.

Commissioner Fithian invited comments and questions from the audience. Mr. Crofoot shared he has had communication with both cable companies and there were no objections or issues. One company only has about 85 subscribers in the County and the other is currently looking to renew their contract with the County.

Written comments will be accepted in the Commissioners’ Office until Friday, March 15, 2013 at noon.

On motion by Commissioner Short and seconded by Commissioner Fithian, the Commissioners approved by majority to conclude the public hearing.

The hearing was taped for reference and concluded at 8:04 p.m.
